O.L.S. (Oosterum Loudspeaker Systems) was founded by Charles van Oosterum while he was studying electronics in particular electromagnetics and electro mechanics at the University of Eindhoven. Although he began with no other goal than to finance his experiments with different designs and driver concepts, word of his talent spread, and he was soon sought by individuals and other companies for his design skills. By 1984 O.L.S. was a successful manufacturer of systems for consumer and professional use. That same year he introduced the now familiar concept of satellite subwoofer speakers systems to Holland.
In 1992, one of the best known audiophiles invited Charles to listen to some music on his existing system. After many hours of listening, this gentleman turned to his guest with a challenge - although his existing system was good, he wanted something perfect. It just so happened that Charles had a computer design of a system that was "in the works", but when asked about it Charles had to explain that it only existed on disk.

Grand Exquisite Reference  
 
The grand Exquisite materializes the absolute end of the high-end in audio, using reality as a reference. This d'appolito loudspeaker embodies two 25 mm and one 12 mm Kharma/Thiel diamond tweeters, two ceramic midrange-units and two Nomex-Kevlar subwoofer units placed in a huge multilayer wooden cabinet. The diamond tweeters have a underhung-system, thereby guiding all the energy straight to the cone and reducing the energy-loss by warmth to a absolute minimum.
The latest Kharma technologies have been applied to achieve a perfect acoustic picture using pure silver-gold wiring and materials like High Pressure Laminate and aluminum.The resistors used in the Grand Exquisite are a development of Kharma and represent the ultimate in freedom from any graininess with negligible induction. For many years the Exquisite Reference has been Kharma's flagship, and the reference speaker for many a audiophile. Until the development of the Grand it has been the ultra-high-end product of Kharma.
The cabinet is built up using vertically layered panels with carefully computed irregularity shaped cutouts, thus minimizing air born resonance. The panels are kept together by a de-coupling substance to prevent structure-born energy traveling from one panel to the other. This patented system guarantees a resonance-dead cabinet. Every form and every detail on the Exquisite Reference has a purpose in the mechanism to create an absolute sound.The Exquisite Reference uses a Kharma/Thiel 25 mm diamond tweeter specially developed and tuned for the Exqusite-line. The Exquisite Midi has been designed to place the same amount of quality as an Exquisite Reference in a room too small for a Exquisite Reference. It uses extreme dense HPL-plates to keep in the low frequency waves and a massive wooden cabinet with significantly precise calculated cut-outs for the mid and the high frequencies.As all Exquisites the Midi uses a 25 mm diamond tweeter as a HF driver and a ceramic unit as a mid driver.

Exquisite Centre
 
The centre-speaker has a very important role in a home-cinema system, because most of the speech is mixed down to this speaker. By using two of the three ceramic units for the sub-low and the remaining for the mid range the frequency-area of speech will be brought alive in a way that has never been done before.

At the Home Entertainment 2004 show the latest Kharma Ceramique Sub was launched and welcomed with awe. Kharma has succeeded in creating a subwoofer that fills up the low in such a way that it is not too present. It does not ad sound, it completes the sound.With this active system you will have the option to have your receiver head the sub or to adjust the parameters yourself to your own requirements.

Ceramique Surround*
 
At this moment Kharma is finishing the long expected Ceramique Surround speaker. This speaker will be available in two different types; a d'appolito version as shown on the left and a two-way system. Main point for the design has been to make it the perfect fit as a audio- and movie-surround speaker for the Ceramique and Grand Ceramique speakers.The bodies can be placed on-wall or partly in-wall, saving space.

The Matrix Series

The Matrix M4 

The Matrix is the new paradigm in sound architecture. This speaker anticipates on the request for a high-end Home Cinema speaker system in a complete new way. The main point for this design was to use the possibility to aim sound.Several studies were done on how to create a system that could fill up any room with high-end sound. This resulted in a hanging speaker almost completely made out of aluminum. Its direction can be adjusted by rotation over a vertical and over a horizontal axis. The height (or more accurate: depth) of the speaker can be adjusted by changing the length of the rod the speaker hangs on.

The Matrix M2
 
The Matrix is available as high-end active, a high-end passive and an active Pro-version. The M2 can be used as a rear- or side-speaker in a system with the M4 as front-speakers, or as front-speaker with the M1 at the rear and/or side.The low and mid speakers are Kharma/Thiel ceramic-drivers. For the high frequencies a line of three Kharma/Focal tweeters is being used.

The Matrix M1
 
It might be easy to see the smallest version of the Matrix, the M1, only as a rear- or side-speaker, but this speaker sounds unexpectedly high-end full range all by itself.Because of it's size and way of placement the M1 is an ideal speaker for home theater and multi room use. It lives up to the latest standards in design.

The Matrix Sub Bass High End
 
The MSB HE is the high-end version of the Matrix subwoofer. In the cabinet finished with aluminum houses a 460 mm aluminum cone sub-driver.

The Matrix Series

The Matrix MP 150
 
The Matrix MP150 amplifier is a proprietary switching amplifier. It uses a unique pulse control scheme that takes feedback only from the speaker terminals. No feedback loop from the switching output is used. The result is extremely low output impedance over the entire bandwidth. Damping factor is >400 up to 2kHz and >100 at 20kHz. The frequency responseis DC-50kHz (+0,-3dB) and is completely independent of the load impedance. THD and IMD are very low (<0.02%) and completely independent of frequency, like a good zero-feedback amplifier.
 

Cables
All Cables are cryogenically treated which constitutes a considerable improvement in Sound Quality. All Speaker Cables minimum length 1.0 mtr, all Analog Interconnect Cables 0.5 mtr, all Digital Interconnect Cables 0.5 mtr and all Power Cables 1.0 mtr.

Kharma Enigma Cables
 
The upper high-end line of Kharma's cable-line offers the very best a man might request. The wiring is made of a super quality alloy of pure silver/gold. The whole product is being cryogenicly treated in a chamber cooled down to -313 Farenheid in a time/temperature controled proces. The net result is an increase in resolution and a lowering of the noisefloor to an incredible level. A massive screening protects the cable from high frequency interferences and a massive electromechanical damping kills the microfonic feedback also lowering the noisefloor. The Grand Reference is our best digital cable at this moment, with 5x5+7 pure silver/gold connectors in a star-like concentrical configuration surrounded by a massive mechanical vibration reducing tubing terminated with the best connectors possible at this moment. Almost infinite resolution, sweetness and dynamics. Next best digital cable in our program is the Supreme Reference with the same delicacy and smoothness as Grand-reference but with sligthly less dynamics. The Grand Reference is our best non-Enigma cable constructed with heavy gauge carbon insulated silvered conductors.
