A small team of electronics engineers noticed this demand and went to work to see if it would be possible to manufacture a portable Nodal Groundstation for the TV news industry. Based in an unassuming house in Henley-on-Thames, UK, these engineers not only matched the existing technology of the day but succeeded in inventing a totally new approach to satellite communications resulting in the world's first truly portable satellite transmitter station: the SNG Services Mk1 Modular Portable Satellite News Gathering Earth-Station. This ad-hoc group of engineers had succeeded in doing what multi-billion dollar corporations had been unable to do and the system became an essential part of daily news broadcasts throughout the 80's and 90's.
The concept was called Human Acoustic Technology (HAT) and initial testing of the 'egg' speaker proved so successful that was clear this innovative concept had immense versatility as well as performance. Home Theatre was becoming popular but most consumers thought they needed large floorstand speakers, so it was decided that a new company would be formed dedicated to innovative audio excellence from discrete but beautiful satellite speakers using technology gleaned from years of satellite research. The name of the company would reflect the company's debut product and that of its designer: the 'Kenneth Lam Egg', or KLEGG for short. The Klegg M6-5.01 was launched in the Autumn of 2001 in London and was immediately recognised as a groundbreaking product. For the first time an audio company had taken the sub / sat concept and applied it in a contemporary form but managed to achieve exceptional sound quality. The Klegg M6-5.01 was undisputedly one of the world's smallest and most effective home theatre systems available.
At Klegg we haven't rested on our laurels. We have continued to develop our M6 and M8 speakers (the M6 is now in its third generation) but we have always strived to maintain the classic form of both systems. The M6 now features the M6 501PII decoder with Dolby Pro Logic II processing and the M8 is now available as an upgraded dedicated 6.1 system - one of the few dedicated 6.1 systems available in the market today. Due to customer demand, we have recently released details of our first stereo speaker set the: KG-103s. These speakers not only provide exceptional sound but demonstrate the kind of build quality that Klegg customers have come to expect. Each speaker cabinet undergoes fourteen separate lacquer treatments before the speaker drivers themselves are mounted. The result is a high gloss piano finish that will immediately feel at home in any environment. Klegg considers the future an exciting place - we are already working on products for release in 2006 and we might surprise you with what we have up our sleeve! In the meantime we are sure our current offering of audio products will satisfy everyone from the multimedia enthusiast to the discerning home theatre connoisseur.
