Mark Levinson
Born in Oakland, California in 1946, to Daniel J. Levinson and Maria Hertz Levinson, Mark Levinson grew up in the Boston area and later moved to New Haven, CT. His father was a professor of psychology at Harvard for 16 years and Yale University for 24 years. Daniel J. Levinson became a pioneer in the field of adult developmental psychology and was the author of the classic book "Seasons of a Man's Life."
Music (particularly jazz) quickly became the focus in Mark's life. Before the age of 20 he was sitting in, on double bass and trumpet, with the likes of John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Sonny Stitt, Johnny Griffin, Chick Corea and Keith Jarrett. Foregoing a college education for music, as a young man he developed himself as a musician, touring Europe as a bassist with pianist Paul Bley and later going on to study classical Indian music with sarod master Ali Akbar Khan.
In his early twenties, Levinson began work in a recording studio, which became a springboard to his experimentation with electronics and sound reproduction. His first components included the mixer through which the Woodstock music festival sound system was fed. In 1971, mentored by electronics pioneer Richard S. Burwen, he founded Mark Levinson Audio Systems (MLAS, Ltd.), hand-building amplifiers that became standards of reference in the audio industry.
In 1982, Levinson parted company with MLAS, Ltd. and started Cello Ltd. in 1984. In 1998 he left Cello to found Red Rose Music.
Levinson is also a recording engineer and has recorded award-winning albums for Blue Note artists including Jacky Terrason, the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, Joe Lovano, and Music Maker Relief Foundation.

Red Rose offers three speakers: Rosebud II, Classic and Revelation.
Rosebud II is extremely compact but produces a very large, clear sound field with astonishing fullness and excellent bass.
Classic is a powerful floor-standing speaker, only slightly larger than Rosebuds on stands, with deep bass and wide dynamic range.
Revelation is a true reference speaker, designed for the most demanding listeners.
Red Rose ribbon speakers offer many advantages:
Sonic quality
Red Rose ribbons offer the most natural sound for all instruments and voice. From percussion and full-bore jazz to the most delicate vocals, you hear every musical detail clearly.
Easy to drive
Red Rose ribbons are very easy to drive. While best performance is achieved with Red Rose electronics, astonishing sound is possible even with some low-cost receivers and multi-channel amplifiers.
Compact size
The sound output is far greater than one would expect from a conventional speaker design of the same size.
Dispersion
Red Rose ribbons disperse sound evenly without beaming or "hot spots." Natural tonal balance is present throughout the room, not just in a "magic spot."

Red Rose Amplifiers
The proof is in the listening.
Red Rose utilizes a break-through approach in which transistorized power supply regulation is combined with the purity of vacuum tube technology signal path. The result is a degree of sonic purity that goes beyond anything previously available in every parameter.
The technology is so powerfully flexible that it can be implemented in two ways: with good quality, highly affordable parts to yield products of outstanding value or with the very finest and most expensive parts to produce reference equipment that surpasses the competition.
Part of the secret lies in understanding how power supply regulation works. Red Rose uses the most advanced FET transistor power supply regulation so that vacuum tubes are lightly used, and are thus long lasting, stable and consistent in performance. The topology of Red Rose vacuum tube amplifiers is also unique, and implemented with many refinements based on years of experience in listening, manufacturing, and fine tuning. Like a hand-made musical instrument, Red Rose components are individually crafted from parts and materials simply not used by others. Many of the key components we make ourselves.
